Edmund Optics India was set up in May 2019 and is responsible for sales, marketing, distribution, and application support for a wide product range throughout India. India is one of the main growth markets for Edmund Optics globally, leading to a rapidly expanding and developing local team.

Responsibilities:
  • Outputting optical design concept per requested specification (CM which including performance/ theoretical yield/ package size/ estimated cost etc) independently in requested time frame.
  • Peer reviewing/tolerance re-run /other necessary analysis for the optical designs done by other designers.
  • Co-operating with PM and Principal Engineer to do root cause analysis and production support for the self-designed lens (or other designs done by oversea colleagues) if any production & yield issues during launching.
  • Working closely with Principal Engineer and Production Engineer to do root cause analysis and production support for the low yield lens.
  • Follow temp tasks assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Major: Bachelor's degree or above in Optical or Physics related.
  • Working experience:
    • >8 years optical design working experience in imaging lens industry or related field who has strong understanding of Geometrical optics principles & Optical design principles and good understanding of Aberration theory & Optical component fabrication processes.
    • Be able to carry out optics design per requested specification independently.
    • Can provide insight on design challenges and trade-offs during design reviews independently.
    • Has experience in developing scripts/macros to support optical analyses.
    • Production/Manufacturing experience in precision glass lenses, precision metal components and/or imaging lens is a plus. Experience in designing mechanical components for imaging assemblies is a plus.
  • Personality: Proactive, Open minded, Willing to learn & accept new things, team player.
  • English: Be able to use English as working language.
  • PC: Be familiar with ZEMAX software is a MUST, be able to use MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint for daily work. Be familiar with CODE V, SOLIDWORK and/or other optical design software is a plus.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to operate office equipment such as a copier; ability to sit or stand for long periods of time; work in office setting. Ability to travel up to 25%.
